My Hometown
Welcome to Lares Choquecancha, my hometown, where we combine our passion for travel with a deep commitment to giving back to the local community.
Our roots run deep in this small Quechua-speaking community, and it is here that our journey began. From humble beginnings as a porter on the Inca Trail to becoming a seasoned tour guide, I proudly present Private Machu Picchu, my own company.
To be a guide is more than just a business to me. It's a connection to my roots, a way to give back to the community that raised me.
Growing up in this humble Quechua-speaking village, I’ve learned the value of gratitude and the importance of supporting those around me. Together, we work hand in hand to provide a brighter future for our children and protect the Pachamama, our beloved environment.
Nestled amidst the awe-inspiring Andes, at an altitude of 3500 meters, lies the enchanting Rural Community of Choquecancha. Here, history echoes through every corner, telling tales of ancient civilizations. As you wander through the terraces and explore the Qolqas (granaries), you can almost feel the spirits of the Incas guiding your steps. The main plaza, with its Inca Wall adorned with 14 trapezoidal doors, is a portal to a bygone era.
And let’s remember the original Inca Trail, a pathway that weaves through our community, preserving the customs and traditions of our ancestors. It’s a glimpse into a simpler time, where life flowed harmoniously with nature. And if you’re seeking solace, our soothing Hot Springs await, their warm medicinal waters embracing you like a comforting hug. They say the temperatures range from 36° to 40°C, but to me, it’s just pure bliss.
But the exceptional weavers of the Peruvian Andes genuinely steal the show. Their skilled hands create works of art, weaving intricate patterns that tell stories of our heritage.
