Social Responsibility
Welcome to Lares Choquecancha, our hometown, where we combine our passion for travel with a deep commitment to supporting the local community.
Our roots are deeply connected to this small Quechua-speaking village, where our journey began. From humble beginnings as a porter on the Inca Trail to becoming experienced tour guides, we are proud to present Private Machu Picchu, our own company born from dedication and love for our land.
Being a guide is more than just a profession for us
It is a way to stay connected to our origins and give back to the community that shaped us. Growing up in this Quechua-speaking village taught us the values of gratitude, collaboration, and respect for our surroundings. Together, we strive to create better opportunities for our children while caring for Pachamama, our beloved Mother Earth.
Nestled high in the majestic Andes, at an altitude of 3,500 meters, lies the beautiful Rural Community of Choquecancha. Every corner whispers stories of ancient civilizations. Walking through its agricultural terraces and Qolqas (granaries), you can feel the presence of the Inca ancestors. In the heart of the village stands the main plaza, featuring an impressive Inca Wall with 14 trapezoidal doors, a living testament to our history.
The original Inca Trail passes through our community, preserving the traditions and lifestyle of our ancestors. It offers visitors a glimpse of a time when life was in perfect balance with nature. And for those seeking relaxation, the natural Hot Springs of Lares await, with temperatures between 36° and 40°C—warm, healing waters that embrace you in complete serenity.
Our talented Andean weavers truly embody the spirit of the mountains. With patience and skill, they create textiles filled with meaning and tradition. Their art tells the stories of our people through colors and patterns that have been passed down for generations. Visitors can experience this living culture firsthand through community visits, an unforgettable encounter with authenticity.
At Lares Choquecancha, we invite you to join us on a meaningful journey that celebrates our cultural heritage and supports our people. Every visit helps sustain our community, protect our environment, and share the legacy of our ancestors.
Be part of this experience where exploration and solidarity come together to create memories that will last a lifetime.
